Today I had a couple of unexpected Ranch visitors. I had a new kitchen faucet on Craigslist and this couple came over to buy it. I walked outside to greet them and make the exchange.
As we talked I found out we had a few friends(neighbors) in common. I also mentioned that I raise garter snakes.
Once I mentioned that they asked too see the snakes.
I introduced them to most of my kids(snakes). They were amazed first by the variety of colors. Then they commented on the large size of the snake and finally they said they had no idea garter snakes could be tame and easy to hold.
My big girls were in rare form as they came right out to me and wanted to be held.
While in the big snake room this guy's wife said she wouldn't mind having a garter snake even though she not much of a snake person.
When they left they said they would be back to purchase a couple at a later date.
It's nice to see that they learned a lot about these wonderful snakes and want to become garter owners. I wish I had a larger audience to convert.;)

lol, my girlfriend when i had first gotten into the snakes said that if the cage was open she wasn't in the room, and that if we moved in together they can't come. and well now... were going to be moving in together in a bit more then a week... and I can sit a few feet away from her with one in my hand and she has no problem... and guess what!!!
The snakes are coming with me when we move!!! lol but there was no doubt there, it's both me and the snakes or no me at all :)

Stand you ground, Nick. Be strong.
Now, go buy her some flowers and tell her how much you love her and thank her for letting you take the snakes.
You're not in charge and she knows it. The sooner you do the better off you'll be.:D

lmao... speaking of kids she said if out son (soon to be) git's into the snake hobby... she said she'd kill me... I just laughed and she said "No! I'm serious!"... I laughed again.
Steve... she's not in charge... not completely anyway... I'm in charge! lol
And besides... she doesn't like flowers (won't stop me from getting her some every now and then) because they die... which she's true there...

Nick,
Any man that says he in charge only does so because he's been given permission to say it.:D

Kids generally are fascinated by snakes. I know I was the first time I came across one in 1977. (T. ordinoides). The fascination never ended.:D Kind of ironic. I've moved to Reno, San Diego, and lots of other places since then. Now I live just two blocks from where I found that first snake.:D
No snakes here now besides the ones in my house.:(
Cool story Steve!
