Would someone try to upload a photo to their gallery. I'm getting an error message and I want to see if it's just me or forum wide.
Thanks.

I will try, but Jason told me today that the server is running on it's backup drive at the moment, so that could be the problem.
Is this what you get Steve??

We still must be operating on the backup server.
I'm sure Jason(Boots) is looking into solving the problem.;)

I didn't like doing it but I now have a Photobucket account. I'm just using it until the forum problem is fixed.
Then I'll have to maintain that account to keep the links to the forum active. That part I don't like.

Well then use.. oh nevermind. Nobody seems to take the advice seriously.
You don't even need an account with the one I use. your photo will still be there as long as it's hotlinked to a page that gets loaded by someone once a year or so. The first pics I uploaded, I did so without an account. They still appear where I posted them.;)

I just find it easier to sort the photo's with photobucket and that way I have them in one spot to post on any forum...

Let's just face it. There's some major advantages to using a photo hosting site. Just choose which one you use carefully or try them all and settle on the one that suits you. I have the advantage of already trying "them all" since about 1999. The one's that sucked back then, still suck, (photobucket, ehem) and pretty much for all the same old reasons. Some things never change.

I don't belong to very many forums.
Just this one. Thamfriends.com and Chelydra.org(Snapping turtle forum)
Photobucket will come in handy for posting snapping turtle photos since they don't have a place to store photos.

Well there ya go. A good reason to use one.(photo hosting site) Most any forum will accept hotlinked photo URL's placed between IMG codes. To make things easier it's best to make sure the hotlinked photo is an appropriate size, frame-wise that is. Doesn't work too well with huge frame sizes.;) I just use XP powertoys image resizer before uploading. It's free to windows users, from Microsoft.

I like storing my photos on my property only. Most photos IŽd published in my thread here, were taken from my webspace.

I'm right there with Udo.
I host all my own photos on my own server.
That way I can remain in full control of what displays and where.

uh, huh. Full control. Keep telling yourself that. Took me all of about 5 seconds to take that away. (check the source URL of this photo)

You were cute kid BTW Wayne. What happened? :p
Just for the record, what I just did wasn't meant to be malicious, just proving a point.;)

Do we know if our gallery will be coming back to life anytime soon?

Jason was still working on it but was about ready to call tech support for the issue.
We had contact about a week ago.

I've been saying all along that the gallery here leaves much to be desired and everybody was like "I don't have any problems with it". First time I tried to use it, something like this happened and I lost all the pics I uploaded. And now this.
So anyway, it seems to me that the gallery is working. What's all the talk about anyway?

For some of us, maybe all we're not able to upload photos into our gallery page and folders. We receive an error message when we try.
I've been on the forum for over 2 years and like having my photos I post to the forum to be homed on the forum server.
This is the first problem I've ever had and I'm sure it will be resolved soon.

Man, I hate that gallery. I've had nothing but problems with it. Case in point..
I just checked my photos. It says I have 2 albums, and 9 photos. Well, one album has 4 photos in it, and when I check the other album, there's nothing in it. So, the last 5 photos I uploaded (quite a while ago) have once again, done a disappearing act.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone confirmed if the uploads actually did fail? I get that message every time I upload a new avatar, even though it did upload successfully.

It looks like the photo gallery is up and running again.
Thanks Boots.

Not really magic. It seems there was corruption when we lost a hard drive and one of the libraries was lost. It took a while to track down as I was looking for a problem with the code itself.
