Mikhaila and I went to the New York Metro Reptile Expo in White Plains, NY today
it's easy to get to by public transportation, and we me friends there, who had trunk space for our heavier purchases
the deal was:
they were going to take home our tanks and we'd take home their very first gecko, since they had to go to a family event straight from there
alas, no tanks for us, because they had no sliders left when we got there
just as well, since we'll be moving soon, and none of them were urgent
the deal stood though, so I got some other heavy stuff
they got a beautiful crested with some spots (dalmatian)
haven't been able to photograph him
he's very jumpy
oh, and us
we practiced so much restraint, that we ended up with two new animal within less than ten minutes of walking into the place
then Mikhaila wanted practically everything else
and, well, I saw a few other very nice animals
but not a single garter snake
so here is what we did end up with:
we adopted "Casey Jones" from the Sean Casey Animal Rescue (a case of name morphing), where we've gotten most of our non-garter herps

I've always wanted one and Sean gave me a break on the adoption fee
and this one Mikhaila sought out immediately after we departed the rescue

Mikhaila named her Marieke
both animals are curious, alert, and friendly
we're happy
