Hi Everyone! I've been checking out this wonderful site for months now and have been wanting to post pics and info on the Garter Snakes we have here in southern Minnesota. However...its been a Crazy field season, and it isn't over yet! so I hope it's OK that my first post will include links to another web-site.
On September 22 and 23 we got drenched with 9 inches of rain (some places got up to 14!) and when the flood waters came, I photographed several dozen Garter Snakes taking refuge in trees and low bushes along a river not far from where I live.
Rather than re-copying and posting the pics and info here, I thought it would be easier to just provide a quick link to the full story already posted on Field Herp Forum.
As soon as it cools down a bit outside, I'll have more time to show off some more of our Garters we have around here. Again...this is a great site and I look forward to spending more time here sooon!! TeeJay.

...thats odd. I don't know why it says: Field Herp Forum &"bull"; (???) Anyway, hope it works. TJ.

Nice to have you with us.
Plenty of T.radix(Plains garter snake)and T.s.parietalis(Red Sided garter snake) in your area.
Hoping their dens will be ready for the Winter or there will be a large kill up there.
Did you launch from home or did you drive to that location?
