:D I'm guessing any picture goes for this one?! .... Seing as 'Thanksgiving' isn't relevant to me I'll be entering a comp-shot 'giving thanks' for some of my thamnophis past and present.

Meh, I've heard worse excuses for contest entries.

But yeah, thanksgiving is not really relevant to anyone outside the US and a couple of other places. 190 out of 194 countries couldn't care less.

Actually, Greg's entry could be considered a cornucopia of Thamnophis:D Holding true to the theme.

The iconic Thanksgiving is American
in the village I grew up in, in Germany, there was an annual harvest thanks celebration, but it was a communal thing rather than family gluttony
for a really cool American Thanksgiving movie, watch "Pieces of April"

I would like to tell thanks giving and the German harvest thanking, to be two kinds of the same celebration, although we are celebrating in church at the first weekend of October.
http://www.zooplan.net/pumpkin.JPGPumkins and other crops are common decorations here in autumn too.

BTW: I would like the recipe to the pumkin pie ;)

Is there really no comparable celebration/tradition in Finnland?
Harvest thanks celebrations in Germany are on the first Sunday in October. So my pumpkin was part of the decoration in our church, before it became part of the photo set up :D.

bringing people (and snakes) together! geez.... or with other families its all about tolerance for one day for all the good food you can eat if you stick around long enough. Most of you better be in the first statement!:D

Thanksgiving wasn't a happy holiday for me after my Grandmother past. Bringing my family together without her just brought out the greed in everyone else. However, I do look forward to spending Thanksgiving with my snakes since they will be spoiled and they are my family, and not greedy. (except for with their food)
