A year ago Spring I found this male T.radixes while Herping in Nebraska. He has a severe spinal injury. I decided to take him home for some Ranch TLC. Even with this displaced spine he still has control of his bowels and is able to shed on his own.
The last month or so I've been seeing some changes take place with him. He's been eating a lot less and has been off food for the last 3 weeks.
Today I checked in on him. He really is looking bad. Not the full robust male he was. I offered him a piece of trout and to my surprise he took it and a second larger piece.
I hope this is a sign that he's not ready to give up the fight.
TOUGH AS NAILS THEY ARE.

Yes but he ate the other day for the first time in about a month. I don't think it's a seasonal change off food situation. I'm concerned for the little male.

I got him to take a night crawler tonight.
I hope he's back to eating on a regular basis now. He's really lost some weight.

Slammed down another big crawler tonight.
Doesn't look as skinny as a week ago.
Things are looking better for the young man.

I had to assist him with the shed on his tail this morning. He's eating on a regular basis, now.
I'm still very concerned about the weight loss. I would say he's lost half his body weight.
He seems alert and normal in all other ways.
He's a nice looking male with some red color.

He ate a couple more night crawlers today.
He was very aggressive going after the food, which is a good sign.
He continues to improve and I think he may be on the road to recovery.

Thought I would close this thread out.
This little male lost his battle a month ago.
He seemed to be doing well then went down hill very suddenly.

For the time I had him it was interesting to see how he dealt with his disability.
I think the spinal cord finally died as he lost a lot of size and weight from the injured section.
It reached a point I had to euthanize him.
It was the only thing I could do for him. I didn't want him to suffer.

Sorry to hear about that. Looking at the picture on the first page, it's really amazing that he was able to live as long and as well as he did with that sort of injury.
