One of my girls named Brownie had escaped for a couple weeks and even before the escape had been off food. Once I found her she still didn't want to eat but tonight she devoured a few night crawlers.
This cycle of non-eating happens all the time on the Ranch and certain snake do it like clockwork. Our girl Lucky is a prime example. She'll be eating great and then stop. Same time every year. My daughter Gabby and I always comment when this happens. We both worry but have come to understand that she knows what she's doing.
With all that being said I still worry when it happens.
Do many of you see the same kind of cycle with certain snake?

I haven't had my snakes for too long, but right now Mama seems to be off food. She hasn't eaten in 2 and a half weeks. I'm not feeling too worried about her because she's normal in every other sense besides her growing belly and not eating. When I get money, though I'll probably try feeding her a pinky, since they've been eating just night crawlers. I wouldn't be surprised if she was having a craving. ;)

I've seen this a few times now ... J is the worst .... he'll think nothing of starving himself for up to three months at least once a year. Suzy is currently on a fast (her first time) currently on her second month. Panama has also had one or two two month fasts in my care. It worries me every time .... but as soon as I think it has been too long they seem to suddenly switch on again .... I'm sure it's their way of deliberately freaking the pink monkey out

Head games. They're always messing with our minds.

Mine are starting to do that as well. Put some perfectly good night crawlers in today and they let them crawl away:mad: Which is kinda hard since I cut them up:D

They are spoiled... But why wouldn't they be? :D
I hope Mama wants a pinky... I'd like to see her get even fatter... She's so cute when she's chubby and grumpy ;)

It is! She doesn't like me calling her chubby. Any time I call her chubby she hisses. It's almost like she knows I'm calling her that. She calms down after she gets held and has her neck rubbed, though :D

I have a few big girl radixes that love the neck rubs. They've come to expect it when I get in the enclosure.

She doesn't like me to do it often, only when she's in my hand. It's cute though when she just sits there and lets me rub her neck and back.

I have a couple girl who get a complete massage. I've got both hands on them.
They don't seem to mind and when I quit they give me a look like "that's it" I just can't please the ladies:D Sometimes:rolleyes:

I cant please my snakes... Sometimes ;) Mama will stay still for a maximum of 5 minutes before she gives me the "leave me alone now!" hissy fit or starts slithering underneath something.
