glad it worked
I sometimes have trouble accessing the snakefinder directly, but the link at gartersnake.de always works

It's not perfect. For example, there are no concinnus in CA at all but the range they give says otherwise. It even shows them as being in the L.A. area of California  Concinnus are limited to extreme SW WA, and western oregon as far south as Salem, perhaps a little farther south, and that's it. The range they give for maritimes (T.s. pallidulus) is extremely questionable and actually, I can't tell what they are showing. Looks like part of a perfect triangle somewhere in Canada?

Atratus range too is well... not right. T. ordinoides do occur in northern CA. Not showing them there.

Very cool little app.. too bad it's not very reliable.

Well, I could suggest that you contact Ontario Wildlife officials and ask them if they know of a good place and time in Ontario to observe garter snakes. You might be surprised at how forthcoming they may be. The reality is that Ontario is a big place.

Maybe this PDF file will help. You'll need a PDF reader or browser plug in to view it. It's very informative and has precise range maps, and is specific to snakes found in Ontario. Hope that helps.

P.S., I'm really liking the look of that northern ribbon snake found in southern ontario. very nice.
