Congrats.
Don't see a jelly there. I do see some leftover yolk from an egg sack.
A nice like warm bath will let the babies get that first shed off. It they're having trouble it will come off with a little help from you.
How's the one wit the deformed head acting?
Are they up moving around?
Those dead ones would be stillborns.

Mom looks good.

Cool. congrats on the litter. Just don't keep those babies on soaking wet towels too long.;)

Keep them warm and their bottoms dry with high humidity and water/moist hides available. (very shallow water, just a few millimeters)

Way to go "mom" :p

The deformed baby is adorable :) I always feel bad for the deformed ones, people don't seem to like them as much but to me their just as beautiful as the rest :D I showed it to my mom and her response was " ewww, a face only the mother could love" :( I love its face quite a lot...

Kinda looks like maybe there was too much pressure on his little nose at a critical time during development. Poor lil' guy. Hoping he makes it.

Thanks so much guys! are all very active and alert! I love them! I hope you guys will be able to coach me on so questions I have. The "special" one acts just like the others.

I have some bad new..... i found a complete shed this morning OUTSIDE HER TUB. I had no ideas she was preggers and the air hole are bigger than the babies. my garter tub are abover eye level.. I doubt that little one (or how ever many got out) would survive the fall or get past my dog.

**** my first question ***** how long can i house them together in a cage with enough space?

I doubt that the fall would hurt them. They are tough as nails. Check along the edges of the room for the escapees.
Babies don't need a lot of room for quiet some time.
Babies have a little trick they like to do. They get themselves wet and then climb right up the glass or plastic. You must have a secured lid. They are little escape artists and will take advantage of all security breeches.

What is the best recomened substrate for them? I WILL NOT USE WOOD CHIPS! PERIOD! i fear aspend shaving and shredded aspen because I dont want to see the babies or any of my snakes eat it during feeding.

Here is my plan. Large cage/ tub (secured) 2 water bowls and 2-3 hides. I want to try aspen on them or the little aspen shavings or even the care fresh stuff. I will offer worm cuts and them pinkie parts. My little 1.1 nebraska T.radix are doing GREAT! taking 1/2 pinkies at this point. So i will just do what im doing with them.

How long can i keep them in one big cage?

Separate adults from babies. Babies can get smashed.
Paper towel work great for babies. I use aspen pellets.

I will house the babies together. but how long can I do that? Forever?. I will release/sell/trade? the male is spring and keep the females.

do you have pics of your prefered bedding in use?

If the pellets get wet(water/feces) they fall apart into saw dust like material. If ingested it does the same.
This stuff is very easy to spot clean and has a pleasant natural wood odor.

When should I offer a meal?

ConcinusMan
08-12-2010, 02:44 PM
Some people say just a couple of days after birth, but with my concinnus, I've never gotten them to eat any sooner than 7-10 days and sometimes up to two weeks before they'll eat.

I sometimes offer food the day after they are born.
I believe that with some babies the feeding window is short. These maybe what are sometimes called a troubled eater. My thought is to offer food early so that one of those feeding times won't be missed.
For some of the troubled eaters a couple missed opportunities for a meal can spell death to them. This is just my opinion.:)

I tried less than 24 hours after these two litters were born. they ignored 2 kinds of fish, and worms too. Tried again yesterday. Same thing. I'm not too worried, it's going just like the litters I had before. I'm sure they'll start eating at around 7-10 days, and a few might take a little longer. This weekend I'll get some frogs legs and try that too. Even if they don't take it, I know the mommas will.

Congratulations! :)

I always wait 1 week before I offer food the first time. I've had snakes only eating after 1,5 months, so you don't have to worry to much. That said, for some species I will not force feed and sometimes a few of them will never start eating...

Congrats on a nice sized litter for such a small young female that is great. Didn't see any jelly beans which are unfertilized eggs, they look like yellow jelly hense the name, but looks like you had a few deformed stillborns, not uncommon. Now the work begins! lol, ahhh a labor of love though right?

Speaking of escapee's Amy scared the crap out of me and went missing. Found him in short order though, under the couch near the enclosure.. whew! but with all these babies running around, escapee was inevitable I suppose. Went to the bathroom yesterday and found a baby concinnus squirming around on the floor!
