Today I decided to take some pics of my garters and do some measuring to see how much they've grown since I got them.
First was Bogo. Now I haven't handled her a whole lot lately so I was expecting to get musked and maybe even bit. But she did neither. I think she even liked getting photographed since every time I've tried to get pics, I got a few with her looking directly into the camera lens. What a ham! She's now roughly 11 inches long and beautiful! She won't fit into that ring box anymore! She's so pretty now! Her checks are so nice and bold. What a glamour girl! But of course I'm rather biased.

Next I went to do "Roadie". Completely different experience for both of us! He did not like being grabbed so he musked me. And musked me and musked me and musked me. Now I know I just fed him but I didn't know that one, nearly 16 inch snake could have that much stinky stuff in him! Whew! So I guess he was stressed. So then I had to give him a quick bath before his photo shoot. I guess that was another not very good experience for him. I finally get him positioned on my hand with a nice background outside and he decided to take a strong dislike to the camera. I VERY STRONG dislike! See for yourself. Then he decided when I was nearly done that since that didn't work, he was gonna grab what was grabbing him. The first first bites were grazes. The last bite he got me but good, latched onto my middle finger with everything he hand and clung like velcro! :eek:He wasn't chewing but he wasn't letting go either. And yes, this bite hurt! ( But not much.) And yes he drew blood. ( That would have made such a good pic but I had just turned off the camera and I wasn't going to stress him out anymore. ) Anyway it made my hubby howl! And he latched on so secure, I was having trouble getting him off. He clung to me for about 2 minutes. I tried to gently open his jaws and that didn't work so I ended up running his head under a gentle stream of cold water. After that experience, I think I might just have to find him a new home back outdoors where he belongs. He may like the food but it seems he's not interested in the easy life! I'm glad he's not a poisonous snake because I would be dead right now!

You mean, like this rat snake of Shannon's? I still get a kick out this moment in her snakeroom tour video. I took the liberty of editing, you'll see what I mean:

I think that perhaps they recognize the camera lens as a huge eye staring at them.

QUIT TEASING ME! Just tell me she's more cuddly than Mr. Roadie! I won't have the option of releasing her! ( And why release something I paid good $$$ for?)
Anyway, yes, I am in negotiations for my first concinnus and that's her pic. ( Thanks for spoiling the surprise! ) Any suggestions for a name??

It's not a negotiation. She's yours and you'll be getting her next week whether you like it or not.:p
Her attitude and disposition is just fine. I'm sure she'll only get tamer and calmer as she grows up. She sometimes eats off of the tip of my finger or out of the palm of my hand.

That sounds great. A calm, tame garter. Don't think I know what that is. I think I'm gonna enjoy this one!
Let's see if I give Roadie his wings, then I will have a free tank. Always a good thing. The question is: Do I let Bogo meet Roadie before my wild child hits the road again???? Hmmmmm. Opinions???? Advice???? Is she too young? Am I stupid for considering this??? He is awfully dark in color. If I could get the color without the attitude......

Well then, if you're used to mean fussy garters than you're in for a treat. Most concinnus I've ever had were quite tame. About the worst you'll get is an individual who is a little nervous and flighty, and likes to musk but that's rare and usually it's males. She's a wonderful snake. I'm sure you'll love her.:D
