Well, one of my gravid girls FINALLY dropped. Felt like forever since I've had little 'un's! The best part is that I got to see the last two being born. These are western blacknecked garters... 7 HUGE healthy babies! They are perfect! I was able to film the last baby being born, and then his humorous attempt at freeing himself from the sac. I found it funny that he breaks through the sac, and as I am waiting for that first big breath... nope! He slides back in and decides he wants to break that sac again! He does this several times before finally taking his first ever breath. Welcome to the world little babies! the video is being processed as of now so it may take a while to start working properly!

I'll be keeping a male for sure, and depending on my ratios, maybe a female, probably not though. I'll sex them out tomorrow! One of them is exceptionally light and pale... I hope that one's a boy!!!

beautiful snakes, congratulations. They do seem really huge compared to other baby pics I've seen. Do snakes have bigger babies the older and larger they get or does it have more to do with the species or subspecies?

Species sub-species.......

Blacknecks have small litters of big babies.

Congrats on the beautiful babies!
One of the reasons I picked Pugets was because I'd read they have smaller litters with bigger babies than the other species I'd been thinking about.
