Hallo! I am new to the world of garter snakes, but was introduced to the concept of having them as pets by my mother, who frequents these forums as 'Flicker' with her pretty pretty red snake.

Upon visiting ConcinnusMan and seeing all of his (absolutely AMAZING GORGEOUS) babies, I decided that maybe a snake was a better option for an apartment dweller than a cat.

Still looking for a name for my new sweetheart, but she's just incredible! So curious and lively! I tried to take pictures of her and she was -fascinated- by the lens of the camera- kept reaching out and trying to slither to it! SO CUTE!

Thanks to ConcinnusMan and Flicker, I am now the proud caretaker of this beautiful Anery girl!

But what to name her?!

Cool. Good to see you joined. Welcome! Here's a tip: next time you take pics do it with the window behind you and the snake well-lit. Try again and post some more pics would you?

Also, don't forget those little ones are professional escape artists. One of the mistakes everybody seems to make, especially people new to snakes, is turning their backs when the tank is open, failing to secure the snake in an absolutely escape PROOF container, or underestimating their ability to escape. They are strong, can make themselves very flat, and can even climb glass walls, especially when they are small. Be careful! I especially don't want your mom's red boy Flicker getting lost before I can use him for breeding. He's way too special to lose!

How about Anna?, play on the word "anery" or prefix "An" meaning lacking (red) My Amy got her name from the spanish word for yellow - Amarillo.

Hope your little one does well. Glad you like her.

Don't get me wrong. I like the photo too, but I would like Dyna to show off the snake's colors (or lack thereof, actually) and make me proud.:p

He's really close to being a completely black-and-white snake. Very little of any other pigment. A little rust on his cheeks is all.

OK, there's Dyna and Flicker whom I've both met. Also met Redspot. Well all live fairly close to each other. But Odie, I haven't met you yet. We'll have to do that before summer is over.

Alright, so I haven't posted anything in a while- but mister ConcinnusMan's gorgeous garters have ended up being the delight of my entire family, and, somehow, in the process I ended up with a second snake... not that I am complaining!

I figured I'd post some pictures of these beauties. The blue female's name is Rune; the little male is Louie.

Oh, but you have to give them back when I return Flicker...

of course, I kid you. You can keep them of course. That is, if you want them.

Flicker is doing fine and "chilling out" at 58 degrees for now, along with my red stripe girl and anery's.

awesome snakes, I'm very jealous, I wish I was able to travel to the States and pickup a beautiful redsided or anything else, but alas... I'm Canada bound for a while :( lol

Yeah, having normal concinnus around locally is cool enough, but I got really lucky when I stumbled into a population that has anery's in it. I can't think of any place better to be, when it comes to having cool garters around.:D
