This little radix was born this morning to a rescued Mom.
Of the 11 born she's the only one that looks this way. She's a runt and I'm not sure if she'll make it.
Her lateral is 4 rows tall. and it looks like there's a extra lateral stripe in there. An amazing little snake.

You said it. She is so different than her siblings.
I'm still shaking my head. Where did she come from.

How is she behaving? Any sign of the future outcome Steve?

It's way too soon for me to speculate anything. :)
If she lives 24 hours I'll feel better. I'm going to try and get some better photos but also don't want to stress her out.

Good idea, you may even want to try and get some video of her (if only for yourself), a snake like this doesn't seem to be very common.

Well I have to head to work, remember work Steve? lol....lucky bugger! If this one survives I think its safe to say that you my friend are on a roll.
Congrats on all the good fortune thus far! (I know it was worked for and didn't fall into your lap)

Good luck and don't be greedy with those pics!! lol

Well, your stripes would be different if you had extra laterals too... well, you know what.. nevermind.

No magic to be done here. She passed.
She was very small and very weak.
Still a very interesting little scrub.

It's going in the freezer.

Try to get some good detail of the "anomaly" parts of the snake. One for the record books for sure.

sorry to hear it steve, but you may want to consider getting this one done with krinkleback. I expect it would be cheap judging by the size.

I was thinking formaldehyde would be better in this case, to preserve the detail and structure of the scales. You have the pictures to show the real colors.

Tyrel26

Well if the photos steve had posts of the preserved animals are accurate then there would/should be no problem viewing scale structure after the process is finished; and you still have the color (as long as it isn't exposed to sun/bright light.

Regardless of how it is done this seems like a snake one would want to preserve.

Yeah, I agree. This one is special. Just like 'ol krinkleback.

What I was getting at is that Steve had krinkleback freeze dried I believe. I think this little guy would be better preserved in formaldehyde. That ruins the color but keeps the body more life-like instead of mummy-like.

Krinkleback is still here. I haven't sent him off yet.
He'll be going out in the next couple of weeks.

No idea, other than going the freeze dried process route.
She's in with my Krinckleback awaiting shipping(money for shipping)

wow, that sure was a beautiful snake. Judging from the fact that the snake was such a weakling, and that you didn't get any others like it, this coloration was probably an accident during developement and likely not an inheritable pattern morph. Or something else could have afflicted it in the womb. I have seen this before in a few other types of snakes.... one is born with a wacked out pattern and either dies right after birth or has an extremely short lived life. I had a ball python hatchling once that was very different, out of a clutch of normal babies.... had a striped face and a weird pattern. He ended up being a weakling and developing a congenital prolapse problem and not even the vet's surgery to correct it saved him. Never thought of preserving him though!!!
