Perfect shed!

Tigerlily shed for the first time since we've had her; she went all milky-eyed for one day, then voila - a perfect, 'off in one' shed! Yay! :D

My snake is starting her first shed since I've had her and I'm a little anxious. Did you use any shed aid product or do anything differently?

well everyone has their own opinion on this but all I have for my snakes is a rough piece of tree bark for them to use to remover their old skin, of course they have a water dish big enough for 2 of them to fit into at a time (they like to soak to help shedding). I have only ever had one shed that wasn't complete, it snapped in half when my girl was shedding but the other half came off unassisted minutes later.

it usually takes my snakes more than one day after the eyes blue to shed, they blue and then go clear and then shed.

thanks, I do have a large dish and a rock that could be used. I guess I have just read too many of the shedding problems threads on this site. It is good to have someone post a positive outcome once in a while. I didn't mean to hijack the thread but I appreciate the advice.

I agree with Tyrel26, my snakes are normally blue for more than one day, then they clear for a day or two, then they slough.
I don't make any kind of special arrangements when they're sloughing. I just leave them to it and almost never have to help out at all. In fact I can't remember last time I needed to assist.

I haven't had to assist either. My girl Stewie, will soak in the water dish right before she sheds. The little guys will rub up against the wood and/or fake plants in their home. I usually find the sheds wrapped around the vines.

Depending on the size of the snake, it can take up to a week for the snake to shed after the eyes first become milky. The snake will clear-up a day or two before shedding. If it's suddenly not milky but hasn't shed yet - that means it should shed in a day or so.

Generally speaking, nothing needs to be done while the snake is preparing to shed. Sometimes, the snake may need extra humidity, but that's about it.

I think she was blue for a day, clear for a day, then started shedding. I didn't do anything differently, just kept an eye on her in case it didn't go smoothly. She has a large water dish, some damp moss and plenty of surfaces to snag on.
