One of my girls is very gravid and I have read that some of you use pellets as substrate. So i was wondering if this will have a negative effect on freshly born snakes....for example will they get coated in dust??
Thanks for reading!

big chunky substrates seem to work best, it assists in breaking the membranes free.

Wayne's right. Use something that won't stick to them(small particles) I put my newborns on damp paper towel or a damp hand towel.
Good luck. Keep us informed.

I've only had a couple of litters but mine were also fine on aspen chip.

I have used a type of reptibark in the past and it worked fine for the babies, Ill most likely go with that. Was just wondering if anyone had experience with these pellets.
This girl is getting huge! Soon gonna pop id imagine, shes the copper colored maritime Ive posted pics of in the past.
Thanks for the replies!

Sorry, I should have said something. I use aspen pellets. The babies do just fine on them.

Ok another question lol
My prego girl is currently sharing her home and I don't have enough substrate for that one anyway. But I have a 7 gal. reptile tank I could use for tonight (just gotta kick out the salamander and give it a good cleaning, and yeah I could leave him in there, im sure this girl would love his company lol). Think thats big enough for now? The snake is around 20-24". I will get something else tomorrow if necessary but I want to get her on different substrate asap. This is a wc garter so Im not really sure when she will give birth but she is very fat so it could be tonight or it could be 2 weeks from now...
Ive been so busy with work I dont get much time but Ill make time tomorrow to find a better enclosure.....some how.
