I have two groups of babies up stairs. One is my albino red phase het. radixes and albino het. checkereds.
The other is a group of mixed radixes. Most of whom just needed some extra attention. I call this group my TLC group. Both groups are doing very well and at this point I think all will make it.
Tonight was a feeding night for my TLC's, I gave them a big plate full of cut-up night crawlers. After about 30 minutes of refereeing a few fights I decided to remove the plate since it was almost empty.
Approximately an hour later I started putting their hide and water dish back in. What I saw made me laugh. At the heated end of the enclosure I saw these stuffed little radixes laying side by side. They looked like a bunch of logs in the river. Almost all their little heads were down, I guess sound sleep. When I moved the hide back in they popped their little heads up but didn't or maybe couldn't move. I set the hide over them and turned out their light.
What's even funnier will be the "feed me" looks I get in the morning when I turn on their light. Garter snakes are such a joy to take care of. All the different personalities within a group. It will be difficult returning many of these to the wild, to the areas where their mothers came from.
There's never a dull moment here at the T.radix Ranch.
