View Full Version : Canada
Hey everyone, I am new to this website but not new to reptiles. Recently I bought 2 albino checkered garter snakes. Afer about 2 weeks I had to go buy 2 more. They are amazing.
I want to buy a few new morphs immediatly but I cant find any breeders in canada and no one that will ship to ontario. There are so many sub species and morphs to choose from.
If anyone has any contact info for someone that is willing to ship to canada, it would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome, I wish I could ship to Canada, get lots of inquiries. Next year I might try more seriously to set up something with a trans-shipper to be able to ship to Canada and Europe, of course I said that last year and didn't get around to it. You might check with Shannon, I think she has a paperwork connection, kind of a trans-shipper who deals with the border process.

It depends what you're looking for in particular. There are a number of folks who are working with various garters up here already.

It has been many years since I last shipped to Canada. At that time, the recipient in Canada needed an import permit (which they had to get from the Canadian Fish and Game department) plus a vet health certification was required by the airlines. It is an expensive procedure but if enough people pool in on an order, the cost can be divided up, making it cheaper for everyone.

Although I did get that pair of Santa Cruz from you last year :)
I just lucked out with a friend who was already importing a bunch of snakes & his guy stateside was nice enough to have mine added to the paperwork to get them up here. Otherwise it's very tough to find anyone who is willing to take the time & expense to set up the proper paperwork/permits & inspections for anything less than an order in the thousands of $$.

Last I heard, about $2600 (2,018.62 EUR) (1,688.31 GBP) by the time all the costs are added up to do it legally.
