Every time I go looking for snakes I bring home a few passengers clinging to my skin and its starting to tick me off lol

Any pointers to avoid these creepy critters?

Sprays containing DEET:DEET - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEET) A harsh chemical but proven to repel ticks. I've heard of people securing their pants at the cuffs. Keeping the ticks from traveling up your leg skin.
Ticks are a major problem in my favorite place, keeps me from going. Some years it's worse than others. A wet Spring means more ticks. We've had a wet Spring.

Yeah its been a wet spring here as well. I haven't found any snakes in my current location yet but there are suppose to be snakes here so I keep looking lol. The area I want to check out today is a rocky stream bank with lots of nice big flat rocks for cover. The is also a large field on the side of the stream so it seems like it should be a good place. I just walked down to the stream for a couple minutes one evening and when I got home I had a tick on my chest.

I think Im gonna tape my pants and wear a white shirt so I can at least spot them quick.

Thanks for the info, Ill keep you posted on the herping success or failure.

as far as herping goes this trip was nearly as bad as it gets lol

No herps
It got wayyy to hot (blurred vision and headache)
Picked up more ticks (but this I had expected)
Got a $300 ticket for speeding (I though I had passed the speed limit sign but when I was pulled over it was right there in front of me)

BUT I found a new place to go fishing for fish I have never caught before lol
