I know what you mean by a wc taming down. I have a couple of adult females that came into the Ranch calm. From the moment I picked them up. I can't explain why but for some reason they don't feel threatened by me or my family. Even the dog. Now that's surprising. I can have one of them on the couch with me and a couple kids. The dog will come right up to the snake and she'll just ignore the dog.
That's a calm/confident/secure snake.

Sorry for your loss. Like Jeff said, 7 Years is a long time for a snake to live. I have a 10 year old Iowa snow plains and a ltc similis that I got 10 years ago as an adult, she is probably 12 or 13 now.

The length of time only makes it harder.

Heartfelt condolences.

Take care.

Were they housed together??

If so I have seen this. They get so used to having each other in the enclosure, that when one is suddenly gone, they will notice.

It subsides with time.

Much the same they will also behave differently when introduced to a new cage mate.

You mean like this '09 female I got from Don back in December? I just love her and she's growing fast! Also getting a '10 male from him to keep Amy company.

Just don't use basking lamps on it, no sunlight, no bright light at all, and no UV! Use ceramic heat emitter or undertank heater. They hate bright light. At least, Amy does. Wait 'till you see the eyes and top of the head go from pink to red when it eats. It's a trip!
