Hi, Im new on this forum.
I'm a beginning belgian Thamnophis breeder.
I have 1.2 Santa Cruz garters (T. atratus atratus).
I've seen my female mating, but saw now actual copulation.
Gravid or not? I was hoping someone could help me.
she ways 120g and measures 70cm.
Maybe the picture helps.

Thanks, Jurgen

Welcome, she looks plump. With the visual on the copulation I'd say gravid.

Well, if she didn't eat just before the picture then I'd give her a very high chance to be gravid. Mine is looking exactly the same :)

For a beginner you've already got a very nice collection of garters!

Little off topic: Are you the same jurgen as on the dutch forum? ;)

My red stripe ordinoides, sometimes referred to as "miss piggy" because of her unending appetite, has been refusing food for 2 weeks now. Now you can really see how just the last 1/3 or so of her body really is fatter and heavier than the rest of it. When I pick her up, you can really feel the weight in that last 1/3. Also, when she's stretched out, the scales in that portion of her body are separated by spaces. If you're seeing that, then there can be no doubt.

Now my fingers are crossed for viable red striped babies. Dang polymorphism!

Haha, I really love that nickname:D. She seems to be heavier on her last 1/3. but I remain doubtfull. I don't feel anything. hopefully you get lucky, red striped ordinoides are so beautiful!
