I go by age as a rule, since most of my breeders are captive bred. Males get active around a year. Active may not mean potent though.
My females have started breeding successfully at 18 months, not all but some. I usually let them breed in year two.

Right around 100-120g for my radixes females. The males are around 50g.

WOW that small...? i have not done any garter breeding so this is all new to me. Im use to retics being 15ft+ and 80lbs before they breed lol! My female is 85g on empty when I got her in. Im buying a male albino (Nebraska) and im going to raise him and cross them!

First off, are you sure the female is a plains (radix) ?? it was hard to tell by your pics.

second, did you know it will take a couple generations of breeding to get Nebraska albino babies??

you will get a whole litter of normal looking snakes with a percentage of them being hets.

Here is some information on the Punnett Square.

as far as breeding, Im well up to speed on that. I have been keeping and breeding retics and many other pythons for the last 8 years. I plan to hold back some female hets.

Ok that is a radix....

Woot!

Scott sells triple hets fairly inexpensively, so if you want faster results, order a female triple het.

I like the Nebraska albinos and that ALL i want to keep or breed ( for now heheheh) . Im having a blast with the girl I have now. Handles well and like I said. She has eaten twice for me off tongs already! only musked me one so far as well. I looking into some actual Nebraska albinos and im going to out cross the with this female. That's one very dark phase radix. Why don't you buy a female that is about the same age or a year younger than your nebraska male? I mean you can get one that looks normal but is het for albino for fairly cheap. That way as soon as they are ready to breed you have a chance to produce albinos the first breeding.
