Thanks for all the welcomes everyone :D no doubt you'll be hearing a lot from me as I absolutely adore garters but till now haven't had the chance to get any as my mother is terrified of snakes (but not slow worms :/) however I'm moving out now so I can have as many as I want

My mother(RIP) handed me one at the age of about 5 and they've been in my life ever since.
I had an awesome Mom.

would of certainly made my life easier if my mother was like that! had to wait till the age of 23 to get my first due to her irrational fear of snakes but not slow worms

When i got married my mom said to my new wife, "he's all yours! Him and all his pets!" My wife didn't have any idea what she was getting herself in to!

My mom liked snakes long before I was born, she was a factor in my liking snakes for sure.

That's kinda funny.^^^
She would probably not fear pacific rubber boas. They are a true boa found in my area and much of the west, but small and slow, and tame. Like a very big slow worm:D

Who knows, she is a strange one. But apparently its ok because slow worms aren't snakes they're *lizards* :P

You want slow and invisible, try a Kenyan sand boa. I have one that I let everyone who is slightly apprehensive about snakes handle. They don't get huge but you gotta like the chubby look.;-)
Welcome.

You know, as soon as I posted the post about Eurovision I realised that the majority of you guys were American. No, Wayne you do not wish you could watch it. The entire thing makes me want to hurt myself.
England came last for the millionth year in a row woohooo (Germany won but thats cool as the lil girl was actually rather good)
