Get used to it. Been seeing it happen here since 1977. The rate of destruction accelerated after 1992. There was a time when I first moved into my current house, (1992) when you could at least have the displeasure of a lawmower accident involving an ordioides and/or pacific chorus frog. No more. the frogs are silent and the snakes are gone. their den sites are now carefully cared for, neatly trimmed lawns, the nearby water ways are now nothing more than pipes under streets, filled with oily runoff.

It's a shame and they call it progress!

Well, it is progress. It's progressing unimpeded. :(
It's progress if your goal is to pave the planet and make it sterile of anything but humans and their food animals/plants.

I saw an Animal Planet special on something like this. They built a new houseing development near a garter den and plopped a house right on top of the den sight. And then no one would buy the house because every spring it was crawling with snakes.
Maybe you better buy that house! Seems like the perfect garter ranch!

I THINK Arizona. Do they have garters in Arizona?????? Those things were coming out of the ceilings and the molding. A horror story to some, HEAVEN to me! ( They're not black snakes!)

If it was arizona, It was likely rattlesnakes. I don't think I'd want that. If it were garter snakes, I think I could probably live with it. Heck, I'd probably put food and basking lamps out for them!:p

I'm SURE it was garter snakes. The people were gathering up buckets of them. As I said, I was very iffy about the exact state.
