Today while i was out for livefood, i called into a shop iv not been to for years

they had the biggest female chequered i have ever seen
she was about 3ft and around the girth of a toilet roll tube
huge,

he had some grown on chequered so i think its a breeding female as it was in with a male too

he had some other garters too plains and red sided - which are very very rarely seen around these parts

I would think that 3 feet is not even max size for checkereds. Heck some spots around me have concinnus that average 3 feet, some get up to 4 feet. My last pair were 4 feet when they died of old age. But yeah, that's a big garter.

According to my notes, T. marcianus can reach about 110 cm or 43".

I'd like to add that snakes usually look shorter than they really are.

And I'll add that my female concinnus was actually closer to 50 inches when she died. Just a little over 4 feet. The male was just under 4 feet.

In most wild locations, to find one over 3 feet is rare but it happens. They are usually around 2-2.5 feet.

this was a beast - not happy with their husbandry though - both in a 35l rub:mad::mad:

Nothing necessarily wrong with that in the short term. Most pet stores do not keep an animal for long and their housing is only meant to be temporary.
