This is Quasimoto. Her spinal defect is from birth. I have been hand feeding and giving her special care since she was born. All in the hopes to get her to adulthood. Then I hoped to find a surgeon to help relieve some of her defect. Over the last couple of days she's been spending all of her time out of the hide. I did get her to eat yesterday but today she took a turn for the worst. She's unresponsive and having convulsions. I'm very close to putting her down.
As you can see from the photo she has put on weight and overall looks good.
I set myself up for these kind of things but my heart goes out to all the little troubled scrubs.

I've started the euthanasia process. The convulsions were coming every 15 minutes and she appeared to be suffering.
She'll spend an hour or so in the fridge, then I'll put her in the freezer.
I don't like this part of my addiction.:(

Nobody likes it steve. I am proud of you for having the courage to do what you are doing.
She's probably doing a bit too well and growing, putting pressure in the spinal nerve. Poor lil thing.

poor thing - that's got to be uncomfortable
it's a good thing she won't feel it much longer

I've never had kinked neonates make it for very long. Even just slight kinks. Kinked tails are one thing but if it's anywhere else, growth presents a problem.

This little female was a fighter.
I admired her spunk.

Poor we thing. I cuncur that growth definately has a negative effect on kinked individuals after what happened to Clint last year.

I am sorry to hear about Quaimoto. I have a baby that has a hunched back but not to the degree that she had. I'm hoping that I will not run into the same issue as the baby gets larger.
CRIKEY!
