That's a shame. The snake makes it all the way through brumation and gets killed that way.:(
Emerging snakes always look so rough and dirty.

Nice pics, Don. I went today with my nephew and our cousin- we saw 6 wanderings, and one Radix- at least I think it was a Radix- bright orange stripe, darkish base color. Left the Wanderings to their business, but I tried to get the Plains, but it proved too elusive.

Very nice! We spent the day being rained on at a water polo tournament. The rain finally stopped just before we headed home... all the way home, at every marshy area, I just looked out the window and wistfully said, "I bet there's garter snakes down there." My mom was driving and at one point she threatened to drop me off on the side of the freeway so I could go play with snakes <gg> If only it was earlier in the day I may have taken her up on it.

Well hello seena and welcome!
Is that post a description for a garter snake that you have perhaps?
Some things have changed since that was written, I must point out.:p
