The Ranch has been blessed with babies. April 1st 8 normal phase radixes were born and are doing well. Most have started eating.
This morning 13 more little dark phase radixes were born. They are in a shed box and all appear healthy. It's a good thing I'm able to get earthworms at this time of the year.
The only upsetting thing is I didn't get to see or help with any of the births. Maybe I'll get a chance as the year goes on:rolleyes::D
Photos will be arriving shortly.

All are doing well and will get their first crack at some food on Sat. My other, smaller group are free-feeding from a bowl of dirt and earthworms.
I love lifting the hide and seeing those stuffed bellies.

More babies today. I've already posted about Speckle but I also had another group born. 13 little healthy scrubs to a first time female. No stillborns or jellies.

I took a few more belly button photos while I had a chance. This snake was only a couple hours old.
A week from now you'll never know she had one.

Nova my high red radix gave birth during the night. 16 total, 1 stillborn. They all look normal. Time will tell whether they red-up like mom. Mom resting comfortably.
Photos later in the day.

I've got 2 very large radixes pacing and wandering. They can't seem to get comfortable. I've seen this before.
More babies within the next 24 hours. It looks like all my females are going to pop within 2 weeks of each other.
Never again, Never again.:D Note to self. Next season, staggered breeding. :D

You are obviously deluded. You can make that note to yourself, but remember, you are not in charge here. They are.:D

I beg to differ. As a rule Female + no male = no babies. Remember, I said as a rule.:)

Usually that would apply. However, you have specially trained ninja radixes capable of mind control. They can make you do anything they want you to do. If they want to trick you into thinking you can keep the males away from females, they will. Either that, or they will change your mind and make you give in. Resistance if futile. :p

Yeah and T. elegans vagrans is known to have broken that rule. T. marcianus as well.

Some milk snakes too. Around 6 years of age, no males, no problem. They lay fertile eggs anyway.

This morning I was greeted with radix babies. One of my rescued mothers delivered. I haven't done an official count but I think it's around 15 and I don't think she's done.
The little scrubs are getting their first bath as I type.
This is a very nice group of dark phase radixes.

I walked by one of my big female radix enclosures and saw a delicate little shed on the substrate. It could only mean one thing, BABIES!. That's exactly what I yelled and my two youngest daughter(Gabby & Hailee) came a running.
I knew the mother(rescued female) was about due as she refused food yesterday.
She is a smaller mother and only had 7, strong, healthy little scrubs.
They're taking a bath in some luke warm water to get that first shed off. I love it when babies are born and especially to a mother that would have otherwise been killed along with her babies.
Mom is doing great. Hoping she'll take a couple worms tomorrow. She has a nice brick red color on her sides. I'll get a photo of mom later and get it posted.
Happy times on the Ranch. Babies are here,,,, yessss.

If you wish in one hand and feed a radix in the other. Guess what you get?
An eating radix.
Here's the Mom to those new babies. I got into the enclosure to feed off a couple night crawlers and she came out to me. Glad to see her eating.

I have no idea. I want it to be a surprise. It's all good as I did a Spring release of babies from last year. Back to their neighborhood they went. I also did a release of some adults to my backyard.
I know I have less than 2000:D or is that 5000:rolleyes: Just joking
In any event, they are all getting fed and are doing well.

As long as they are in your care those snakes don't have to worry:D
