This is an interesting pairing, the male is a red radix from Ian Campbell and the female is my "Ruby" Iowa snow, she is a giant at around 600grams now, so hopefully some of the babies will show some red and they will all be het for albino and anery.

Took a pic of this girl, I think they really show their patterns nicely when they are plump full of babies, hopefully she will produce some healthy babies.

This is a pair that Scott Felzer produced by crossing a New York paradox albino to a erythristic florida. The female is a bit thin but I believe she might be gravid though, hopefully they will produce some nice babies. The female has a little rusty orange color, and the male is more green.

This cross should make some pretty babies, I am hoping they will have really nice purple look for an albino radix. The female is 100% proven het xmas albino and also het nebraska and het anerythristic. The male is an Iowa albino that is 66% possible het for nebraska albino and anerythristic. So there are lots of possibilities for the babies, this could end up being a very colorful variety litter, at the very least half will be albino because the xmas and iowa are compatible, so shold get some nice albinos at the least, with the possibility of many other surprises too.

This female is one that I caught near my house 3 years ago, then 2 years ago I sold it to Scott Felzer, then last summer I bought her back, lol. thanks Scott for letting my have her back, she is a real nice snake. So anyway this spring I bred her to my male Kansas strain snow red-sided. The resulting babies will be outcrossed to Iowa strain and will be double hets for snow (het albino and het anerythristic). Then those crossed back I believe will produce a slightly different looking albino and may even effect the look of the snow or anerys too. The reason I believe this is that the Kansas strain has a lot more yellow in it and shows in the albino, so hopefully the Iowa bloodline will give it a more white and red (candycane) look in the albino, I guess we will see in a couple years, lol oh well thats what makes it fun...the unknown.

Now that I look forward to. Not that I have anything against the yellow showing (My albino is beautiful to me) but a white snake with red spots would be awesome.

but they were both borderline too small to breed, but fingers crossed anyway.

got this female on trade this week. She is an offspring from a wild caught female that Scott Felzer aquired in 2008. The original wild caught was from Surf City and the snake was a very pretty red erythristic that had babies shortly after Scott got her, he sold babies to the person that I aquired her from in trade. She has a nice pattern similar to a granite checkered, not a lot of red but a pinkish hue, hopefully she will make some nice looking albinos in a couple generations though...maybe

this snake is small and was sold as a male but I was unable to pop it, and it has a short tail so at this point I am still unsure, it is a pretty green though.

The best thing about garters? ( In my lowly opinion at least. ) They're a non-poisonous snake that come in my favorite color : BLUE! I have a cami jacket that that snake would just match! I can't wait to get a blue boy! Let me know when that one spawns.

Howdy Wayne good to see you here again, yah the pic isn't the best, that snake isn't really that dull looking, but I'm not a proffessional photographer and my camera is a P.O.S.
Devon,
I looooove the black and blue snakes too, of course I don't consider if they match my jacket,:) but that sounds exactly like something my wife would say.

Well not making any promise thats how it will look, but just theorizing and hoping, but thats what it takes to motivate one to raise up a bunch of normal babies to breed and all the work required over several years., besides it's pretty cool the fact that snake is an eastern iowa local just like me:)

What I find really interesting about these snakes that I forgot to mention, is that if you look really close the scales are much more round shaped, and they are also very smooth,...... and by comparison some of the easterns (sirtalis sirtalis) especially the ones found towards the east coast are much more pointed and elongated and they are also more keeled.

Your right she does, but I think part of what gives her look is she is very small for a 2 year old snake, obviously she hasn't been given the optimal growing conditions and I was told that he had trouble getting her on mice untill just recently..... I'm hoping that with a little TLC will be able to beef her up by next spring and sometimes after you get a female bred she will automatically, instictively, hormonally driven, dramatically increase in size too, so we shall see if she blossoms into a nice fat prego next spring, fingers crossed, because I really do think she has a lot of potential

she (the normal eastern) looks a lot like this WC normal female that Scott sent me last year. She's from florida. Mine's got the same super-tiny-checkers thing going on. Kinda different!

Thats been done already, some people think the granite by itself is a more striking snake, but they are both interesting looking morphs to me.
