I caught my first snake today, a male garter! We walked to Eddie's house today (we live a minute apart) and on the corner of their property is a dranage ditch and a small rockpile with holes leading underground. We must have seen 6 or 7 there today, and a mating ball in the drain!!! They are everywhere in there! Farewell guys... I'll be outside for the rest of the year if you need me! :D

Sorry... no photos, I didn't have my camera!

Sounds like a fish story. You know "the one that got away".
You'll get no credit from us Shannon without photos:D

Nice...waiting on my first wandering. went to a den site on the north end of town....not a sign of any snakes. my friend at the reptile rescue and I went out last year....people are breaking up the rocks, stealing them, and in general destroying the area... probably won't see any more garters there.... :( state law here prohibits anyone from disturbing any snakes that are within 100 feet of a den site. we showed the den site to the only wildlife officer here that knows anything about snakes....didn't believe us...won't protect the site...and he KNOW'S us and our expertise in the area of reptiles... :(

What a knot head. I'd keep pushing it and talk to someone with half a brain and authority.

That's great news about the snakes shannon! Shannon? I don't think she's coming back. LoL.

Please try to go get footage of the breeding balls! I'll be getting footage of my spot tomorrow so you'll get to see concinnus being themselves, in their natural habitat.
