I was there this year.
It's a shame that so many get killed.

I know where I'm going when I retire. :D

That's TERRIBLE that people kill them, though. Ignorance is a truly terrible thing. :(

That's one reason why I'm in favour of euthanasia.

That's not exactly what I was thinking but your version is a lot more family friendly than mine.

The snakes I saw at Narcisse were beautiful. There was a lot of death there but it was natures death for them. Not at the hands of some stupid person.

I plan on going next spring to visit the dens. Maybe I can knock some sense into their heads? It's not like they would remember anyways.:p

Be prepared to be amazed. I've been told Mother's Day weekend has always been a good weekend. I was up the week before that and only 10% were out. The interpreter, as they are called at the Dens told me they estimate 2 millon snakes in the surrounding areas. If it's cold in the morning don't bother going. Wait until early afternoon after the sun has warmed things up.
I didn't meet any snake haters while I was up there. Many of the people just don't care(good or bad) about them. They are just part of life for them.
I did get some strange looks from both sides of the customs officers when I told them I was going to see the garter snakes or that I had just spent one day there with the Garter snakes. They even tried to catch me taking snakes across the border into the US by questioning my kids about where there Dad put all the snakes. My Gabby politely told the Homeland Security officer that we didn't need to take any home with us. We had a couple hundred of our own waiting at home. I'm surprized they didn't have a Garter Snake sniffing dog go through my van. I'd have probably been in trouble since I probably smell like a radix. Not to everyone else but to the dog:D
