It was bedtime and I went to do a final check on the snakes and tuck them all in. I walked into the big snake room and saw a snake head across the floor. I didn't recognize it and don't have any missing. When I grabbed her I was shocked. She was starving. Skin and bones. She must have gotton into the basement and been avoiding all of us. She's a beautiful green head radix. I took her upstairs for a cool drink of water. I didn't let her have too much for fear she would throw it back up.
Back down to the basement in the hopes she would eat. I just recieved 500 nightcrawler so she's the first to try them. She ate 2 smalls and 1 large. I know she could have eaten more but I want to give her stomach time to adjust to food, again. I'll get a photo of her on Friday and post. I'll be praying for this one. I've never had a snake with this much folded skin. I'm guessing she's lost half her body weight. Poor little thing. I'm sure the smell of all that food in the basement had to have brought her out. I feel bad that I didn't find her sooner. Hopefully she'll make it.

I have to drive 2 hours to get into radix territory; you walk 2 feet and wa-la. Not jealous or anything , but you get get waaayyy better gas mileage than I do when it comes to finding plains.

Here's a before and after photo.
First is when I found her. Very skinny
The second photo is the next morning after a meal and some water. She's already starting to fill out. I'll feel much better after she's shown me a good poop. I just want to know all the systems are back working. I'm glad she came out of hiding. I'm not sure how much more weight she could have lost.

She's a real green phase. I think some of that green will darken after she puts some weight on.

Steve,
You don't even have to go looking, they let themselves in!

This is a good news bad news post.
Good news: She pooped on me tonight. Her digestive system appears to be fine.
Bad news: She passed a stillborn. I couldn't even tell she was carrying it. It looked fully developed and yet stillborn.
It will be months until she's back to any kind of normal.

In the last 24 hours 2 mothers have delivered. 20 and 25. No stillborns or jellies.
They all have their first shed done and I hope will be eating within the next couple of days.
I've got babies everywhere. They are all so cute.

Just an update on the little green head radix. She's really filling out and look like a new snake. I've had her on a high calorie diet, trying to get some weight put back on. She gets fed once a day and is allowed to eat(rotating pinkies and worms with powdered supp. once a week) until she's full. She is one beautiful green phase radix. Of all the radix color phases, green is my favorite. I'll get a new photo posted soon.

It's been a long time since I updated the status of this great young girl (T.radix).
She was found in my basement and was skin and bones.
Getting her back to a good weight and health has been an up and down battle.
Many times over the last couple of years I thought I might lose her. It wasn't until 6 months ago I started having good feelings about her future.
Moving her into a larger enclosure and housing her with my best group (big females) has help her I think.
She is a great girl and I hope she will breed in the near future.
I have an awesome looking green male for her.

I toyed with "Phoenix" Any other ideas?

I like Phoenix...I am very into the concept of the Phoenix...I have always associated with it myself. Because of what she has been through, I think it is very fitting for her!

She's a T. radix on the T. radix Ranch... How could her future not be good? :)
Yet another great looking radix, you are lucky to live where you are Steve.

So let it be written, so let it be done. Oreo it is.
Not sure which one but one of them will get that monicker.
