Hi, I'm Alex. I have a baby eastern garter snake OR Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis.
I was just wondering is there any way to determine the sex of the snake just by looking at it's physical features? If there is i would really like to know.

Garter snakes are pretty easy to visually sex. Baby garters are harder to determine visually, but I've heard they're easier to pop. There is a thread somewhere that has pictures to help visual sexing. Females generally narrow down more quickly past the cloaca than males do. Some males even have a small bulge there. :) I hope this helps.

Great care must be taken when poping babies. Injuries can occur very easily. If you're going to have them for awhile the physical attributes way is much safer for them.
