I just caught this baby garter snake, and it is about 5 inches long. I know your not supposed to bring reptile's or amphibians into captivity but it is a baby and i found it because these kids were killing snake's and i took the one i can get, so it wouldn't be killed. Anyways, it doesn't eat anything. I offerre it earthworms but its not even inerested, can you help me?

Give it a few day to to rest and get settled. This little guy has probably been through a lot in the last few hours and it extremely stressed. Once it is settled in you can offer chopped up worms or fish and see if it will eat. Hope everything turns out good for this little guy.

I went through the same thing last August. Mine didn't know what to do with the fish, so I fed her earthworms and she ate one...then didn't eat again for more than a month. I had a heater underneath the tank, but it wasn't until I got the infrared light to heat the air that she finally started eating the worms.
Things were pretty good until around May. She hasn't eaten much since. She's still too small for a pinky (unless we cut one up, but she probably would not eat that, either). I'm hoping to go to pinky mice if I can get her to grow.
Anyway, more heat was the answer for me.

It may take up to two weeks. My garters are wild-caught, and it took them about that long. If earthworms don't work, try salamanders. Just make sure you don't feed them an endangered or poisonous species. :)
