hey guys I am just curious it seems as I look around the site here and a few other places where people love garter snakes that the Radix seems to be the most popular choice and I was wondering why that was? I cannot really seem to find the difference between Radix and a Sirtalis, am I blind?

:p well I have read that apperantly the Radix's are more docile then the Sirtalis's and that they are one of the most heavy bodied garter snakes around, wonder if that is part of what makes them so popular. I wish I knew a website where I could buy a garter snake other then the common one.

nice thanks, I will see if they ship to Canada. My main concern is I want to find a breeder of many types of garter snakes that will ship to Canada.

Here is a nice site don't know if they ship internationally or not.
Scott Felzer's Garter Snakes, specializing in aberrant garters (http://www.albinogartersnake.com/index.html)

What's with the radixes!
Let me tell you. They are just the best Garter snakes in the whole dang world. Calm, gentle, smart, wide range of colors. Good eaters and do very well in captivity. Did I mention how calm and gentle they were. Why, having a radix is like having a little slice of heaven. They are naturally curious and great eaters. The colors range from light phase, dark phase, red phase, normal phase. Green, black, brown heads. Having a radix is just about the best thing that can ever happen to a person.
Of course I am just a little bit bias when it comes to radix.:D
Individual results may vary. Anyone holding a radix for more than 4 hours should seek immediate medical attention.:D

I honestly do not see that Radix's are the more popular choice. I think you probably just happened to pop in at a time where you noticed a lot of Radix being discussed or for sale by coincidence. ;)
But they ARE lovely. =D As are all garters!

I didn't have any luck importing to Canada from Scott. Importing from the US can be tricky and expensive.
Try Laurence Perron, contact info here: Untitled Document (http://ceil.ca/). Site is in French, but email addy works, lol. He's making a purchasing trip to Europe in September for rare rodents and reptiles. He's a great guy to work with, just let him know what you want. He also has contacts for a garter breeder in Canada.

Either that, or Steve (aka Father Guido) was logged on at the time.

Now, what's that suppose to mean "radix". Are trying "radix" to say I'm obsessed "radix" with radixes. I have other "radix" snakes and think they are "radix" all wonderful. I "radix" just happen to like radix the best.:D

I went to his site and clicked on contact but nowhere does it show how to get a hold of him :(

OK, he doesn't have a clue how to design a website, lol. But his email addy and phone numbers are on the middle of the page:
perron.laurence@videotron.ca

450-839-6936
He's really good about replying to email. Tell him Johanne sent you. I haven't tried phoning him.

"What's the deal with radix?....."... didn't a Jerry Seinfeld set used to start out like that? There's not enough discussion about radix on here imo :)
