I'm off to go herping at Matthew's Creek! Yes, this is our short and only vacation for the year! Four days on the South Fork of the Salmon River in the Klamath Mountains of SW Siskiyou County: swimming holes and herps galore! On the list to find are: of course the Oregon Garter (T. a. hydrophilus), the Mountain (T. e. elegans), the CA King, the CA Mtn King (a difficult find), the Northern Pacific Rattlesnake, the Rubber Boa, and the Sharp-tailed Snake; racers, gophers, and ring-necks might also skirt the campground at Matthew's Creek. Foothill Yellow-legged Frogs and Pacific Giant Salamanders are also usually present. So, wish me luck! I'll post the pictures I take on this thread.

Well, the trip was simply wonderful! It may take a week or so (school's coming up), but I should have the pics up on my site soon. We found oodles of Oregon Garter babies and a couple close to 3 feet; also caught a baby Mountain Garter, and sighted a baby Pacific Gopher Snake, countless Western Fence Lizards, and a bunch of Foothill Yellow-legged Frogs. We also saw a Bald Eagle, and Osprey, a White-tailed Kite, a Kingfisher, an Egret, and the skeleton of a Black Bear!
Please be patient with the pics...
