;) OMG! I woke up this morning and went to check on my babies (there are only two out there now...I think a male was chased off???) and I found THESE!!! They have to be eggs....mama (the BIGGGG girl!) showed me her lovely fangs for the first time when I uncovered her "egg". The second one was discovered about 5 hours later. They were just laying on top of the straw so I gently buried them underneath and she's laying on them now.
One seems to have a division line through the center of the egg; twins?? They are approx. 1 1/2 inches length.
I am just ECSTATIC but am unprepaired for all of this excitement and new motherhood.. What is the incubation period for Indo Keelbacks eggs????

Yes, Le Ann...last time I checked (about 3:00 PST) there were two eggs. She seems to be very contented so I will just let her be. Do you know anything about these snakes and the incubation period? Will she go off feed or will she still eat?

Oh my, good luck with those, I wish I could help...accurately.... but I would offer her food at least, she can decide if she wants it or not. :D
If you really dont know what do to with the eggs or cant find any info, I would try a different method of whatever you think would be best with each egg, see which ones work, then educate us!

I'm sorry to say I have no knowledge of these snakes. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who do. Give it a little time and I am sure they will answer all of your questions to the best of their abilities. Good luck with the hatchlings!

Looks like the visible egg might be infertile... :( Hopefully not. I know how bad that sucks!

the only thing I know to contribute, is not to turn the eggs - to keep the top-side on top
somebody else explain - I'm batty tired right now

As rhea said ... if you move the eggs don't turn them from their original position. There is an air bubble in each egg which can cause injury/death to the embryo if it moves inside the egg.

What is the incubation period for Indo Keelbacks eggs????
Not a clue, but I'd expect it to be about 30-60 days.

She's doing well this A.M. I don't know how many eggs I (oops..SHE LOL!) has; I'll wait till she leaves the nest sometime...don't want to bother her.
Now my only problem is that I have the other two on the prowl in my backyard! I have a feeling Mama chased them out (I have them in an Exo-Terra screened cage which has small cracks between the fitted sides) and I don't want them cleaning out my two little ponds! Any advice on how to catch them??

Grab a lawn chair and watch the food source. Put down some boards(close to the food) for hides and check them periodically. Best of luck. Keep us posted.

first of all...Congrats!
As far as I know, it pretty rare for these guys to breed in captivity!
Please! Enlighten us with your wisdom :D

LOL! Wisdom??? Well, you order three snakes you know NOTHING about online(all the same breed, two females, one male), you put 'em in a cage and in two days VOILA!! EGGS! I don't really know; I will write to ReptilesnCritters and see if they were aware that she may be pregnant. Blows me away.... NOW...if God is on my side and willing to give these babies a chance....it's in His hands now.... ;)

I didn't know you were a cop!! Boy, do I feel stupid now ...I hope you didn't think I was mocking you with my CB talk (CB as in radio..LOL!).
No sign of my two wandering keelbacks....I DO recall shortly before Mama starting laying eggs that one of them seemed agitated and anxious, as if he wanted out of the cage. He was definately looking for an escape. You don't suppose she ATE them, do you???

Good! Now, back to my question...do you think mama ate the other two snakes she was shipped with? I can't find them and I really don't see how they could have escaped from such a tiny crevice in my cage. Do garters eat other garters?

I do know some species of Thamnophis will eat others of their kind. Wandering garters are somewhat notorious for it. But if these are Xenochrophis, I don't really know. It's possible, though.
But if there's a crack in your cage, I'm willing to bet they squeezed out. Believe it or not, snakes can flatten themselves and slip through openings that are much smaller than you'd think would allow them through.

I would also hazard a guess that they are outside.

Boy, this has all happened too fast! It's taken a bad turn; mama snake left her nest for a short time so I checked on the eggs to see how they were doing, and they were gone! I suspect mama was still stressed from moving cross country in a small container w/two strangers (my other two keelbacks) and THEN to be housed with them in a strange environment with eggs to be laid 3 days later! I am disappointed and heartbroken, but not as bad as if the babies had hatched and then something drastic happened to them after me getting attached to them. Why, I am NOW just getting to know Mom on a first-hand basis!
Well, like I said, it was in God's hands. Just wasn't meant to be at this time. I will try later when she gets accustomed to her surroundings and is comfortable!
Thanks for all of your warm support! I need some time to myself right now...

:(You guys have brought me to tears. I NEVER in my life would have thought that I would get attached to a snake (or snakes). For 50-plus years I had been afraid of them; well, not really afraid, but leery.... I finally have discovered what all you herp owners are so proud of; making friends (and pets) of some of the most unlikely creatures on earth, at least in man's eyes. I am now a devoted snake lover and am looking forward to caring for many, many more in the future!!! To think of the naivity that humans have for these lovely creatures.....it's a crying shame.... I'm hooked for Life!:)

You think that's bad? I was a full-blown ophidiophobe about 4 months ago. Started coming here, trying to find information about the reptiles infesting the shrubs around my house, and now look at me: not only have I caught and relocated some 18 garters, but I've actually kept two of them! AND IT'S THAMNOPHIS.COM'S FAULT!!
CURSE YOU THAMNOOOOOPHIIIISSSSS!!!
*vigorously shakes fist*
Sorry the eggs didn't work out, and I hope you find the missing ones soon.

I'm a huge arachnophobe, but... we actually had a pet tarantula before we had a snake :D The in-laws got one for my son for his 4th(?) birthday. They actually did ask my permission first and I figured what the heck. It turned out to be fine. I DID NOT handle the T, but that's not exactly something they crave anyway. It's the little no-see'um creepy crawly, drop down from their web onto your head, kinda spiders that really get my skin crawling

EXACTLY!!! There was a garden spider who built a beautiful web between my orange tree and my patio umbrella. I would watch him from a distance as he would spin all these beautiful, intricate designs to his orb every morning. He would catch biger and BIGGER insects, and as he did so, HE got BIGGER and BIGGER! This morning he decided to greet me on my patio table; I hosed him off...LOL! Gently tho....he just got a little too friendly!
