How do you tell if a snake is sleeping?

Head on the substrate and oblivious until you get too close :D

The head is usually resting on the ground. When they're awake they have it up.
I have caught many of mine asleep. My big radixes are very content with life here at the Ranch. They will be sound asleep when I reach in and scratch their sides.:D

in that case mine falls asleep in my hand a lot ...then when i touch him ho jumps up like hes been shocked!!!:)
