Sunday(Tues,Thurs, also) is a lawn work day here at the Ranch. I was in the shaded back part of the the backyard. I had shut the mower off to relax for a few moments. While laying in the grass I could feel something crawling on my leg. I reached down and found this little girl. She seemed fine with being held. I've had a lot of brown phase radixes come across my path for the last couple of years. This girl was different. I'm not sure how to explain it but her brown looks really good. She's probably a year old. I took her in the house and she ate a large nightcrawler out of my hand. I think she'll stay on the Ranch for the Summer and Fall. I like her attitude. She's a very pleasant radix.
It's not only baby time inside the Ranch but outside also. While doing the trimming I came across a newborn. I love this time of the year.

Steve,

Are all of those snakes naturally outside your home in the yard? I've never heard of seeing so many. But then again, you've got that B&B thing going on...:D

It's always been this way. Some years there's more, others less. It's been a cooler July so I'm seeing more. Aug,Sept, and sometimes Oct. can be good radix months. I'm excited that baby time is here outside. I'll have to take more time doing yard works as to not hurt or kill any of them. I find a lot of newborns. Have to do a few rescues from the birds, once in awhile.

I agree, Greg but this girl is overall beautiful. I can't wait to see her as an adult. I've been somewhat tired of the brown phase but this girl has won me over.:)

You are such a lucky guy. I wish I had so many out in my yard. I feel lucky to stumble across them now & then.

It is a good thing that being a snake caretaker and friend is not about money or turning a profit......;)

My place could be like that movie. Wasn't there a movie call Thamnophis Park. I think I remember one of the lines from the movie " T radix doesn't want to be fed, he wants to hunt" or something like that. It was a great movie.:D
