Attacked

In all my years of keeping radixes I have never been attacked by one. Feeding response bites, yes but I've never had one come after me at a non-feeding time.
That all changed this morning. This young female has been on the ranch since birth. She has always been a good eater and had a pleasant demeanor. I opened the enclosure this morning and stuck my hand under one of the hides, only to get tagged, repeatedly. I pulled my hand out and continued to get hit. These were open mouth shots. My arm was well inside this 6 foot enclosure and as I pulled my hand out she followed me out. I got my hand and body out of the enclosure and she leaped out towards me. I had had enough and grabbed her. She twisted around and grabbed a mouthful of my hand. She held on for a few minutes. She finally deflated and released her bite. I put her back in(got a photo) and she went under her hide as if nothing ever happened. I must have startled her and she was making a point.
Point taken, I will announce myself the next time I enter that enclosure.

See, there pretty girls think that they can act however they want. Spoiled kids today- I am sorry to hear that you were on the wrong end of a woman scorned Steve. Yet another reason I am glad I am not a card carrying member in the got my @** bitten by a garter club.

Oh Steve, you dont need to put up with that kind of temper. I suspect she may be bipolar. And seeing as how I am a recovering victim of this disorder myself, I should be able to give her some benifical counceling. Ill provide unlimited sessions free of charge, just send her on over! :D

My wish for you is that you become a card carrying member real soon. It only adds to the experience of keeping them. It makes you more at one with your snakes.:D

I know what you mean. I got tagged by a big bull snake the other day and my kids don't even blink. I told them that if they've got a hold of me there not going anywhere. Of course, I also enjoy getting tazed so getting bit by a snake is not that big a deal.:D

Found one the other day who looked like her favorite thing in the world to do was chew on my hand.

At least human females don't bite that much... Then again, I've never gotten one really mad or disturbed one in the dressing room, like Steve. :P

Check out the look on the face of the little male behind her. He's thinking "Oh ****, she's in trouble, now. Or maybe he's wishing he had done it. I checked on her this morning and she seem back to her nice self. Man, she was one angry radix. She's not the biggest female in there but she may well be the toughest.:eek:

they will bite too!!!!! got bit in the chest by one in Illinois once, were having a party and she got me....being a vet tech we did a bite report on her, and the vet laughed and recommended euthanasia and testing for rabies.... :cool:

well..nothing real outrageous...was a "wicked witch is gone" party, a cranky tech got sent to Korea, we were happy she left!!! when we were getting in a friends car, I opened the back door of the car, she looked at me...then walked up and bit me...so I sat in the back and let her have the front seat!!!

omg yay, another club I have unwittingly joined!! I have been botten by so many snakes... of all kinds...

I find it rather cute when my banded ball python sneers at me right before he repeatedly strikes 5 or 6 times... it's adorable, and also painful if he doesn't miss!!! Meanest darned BP I've ever met.
