Actually, I've had similiar experiences with garter snake bites. I don't even realize I've been bit 'till I see the blood gushing all over the place.
Is it possible that garters have some sort of anti-coagulant in their saliva? I know bats and leeches do, but that's for a different reason.

Ok... now i am really confused.... my one year old male checkered has tagged me a few times and I have never bled from.... barely even felt him hit.... Are you sure that the garter got you?

i find bites on fingers bleed tons. had a baby boa do the same hing to me on saterday
