Personally I'd take this time to try to catch what I could to save them from construction, relocating where needed, most construction workers are going to kill the snakes if they find them =/

Mine got destroyed a couple years back, now I have to drive outside the city for some decent herping.

Sorry to hear the news, Josh. Most of my good spots have all been leased by hunting clubs and are now posted with no trespass signs.

Definitely. That's pretty much why I started my own rescue effort around the neighborhood here: because I knew residents and gardeners would just kill them if they got the chance.

Another suggestion: talk to the construction people and see if they'd let you herp while they're building. In my experience so far, people are perfectly willing to let you hunt for snakes if they know you plan to remove them.

that sucks!!!! have the same thing here....got a den on the north side of Salt Lake City....pretty much destroyed by kids and bozos wanting the gray rocks that formed the den for their yards.... den sites are protected under state law...but the DWR officer we (me and my rescue friend, who, as he knows, are well educated in reptiles....) talked to didn't seem to care!!!!

Don sorry is one of the worst I've ever heard before, destroyed Animals habitat,to built our own habitat ....poor state of mind!!Ignorance people just don't know!!Maybe don't care. The futur generation will probably think that we are barbarian .we don't care about the futur! But we know what will happen and we continu this way.

If all governement decided tomorrow to do whatever it take to save the planet ! I think its already too late ...We don't have consequence yet from our past mistake, just like drop toxic wast in barrel in the sea ,someday we will pay the price we have to pay!

Each time a saw destruction of the foret or small habitat I feel guilty. And not very pround.

I live in pennslavania, in a valley, and i look at the mountains around us and there completely green. Its beautiful. It sucks that my grandkids and great grandkids might not get to see them.
