I recently moved to Edmonton from Newfoundland (which has no native population of snakes...of any sort) and am very interested in photographing and studying garter snakes here. I do not intend to capture any or disturb their dens in any way. I don't need exact locations of the dens either...just a general idea of where to start. I love this city and spend most of my leisure time exploring it. The variety of wildlife here is quite astonishing. If you can help in any way, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

well, not sure of any specific areas where you are.....but to find garters, go to areas with ponds and streams

Check with the locals in your area.
They will probably be able to tell you some hot spots.

I agree with Steve's advice. Checking with local people is your best bet and welcome to the forum.
