Our girl Sky just shed her skin  ... she's about 3foot and hovering around 250g .... I'm thinking of moving her into a baby-proof box at the end of the week :o ... what do you guys think? ... she's definately gained weight since she got here (although I didn't have my scales then).

When did she eat last? Mine(radixes) have always stopped eating about a week before giving birth. Moving her now is a good idea since birthing is imminent.
Great looking snake. Do you have a photo of the male?

That's also a good indication with me, when they stop eating it's usually not that long anymore and you can seperate them :)

She's due a feed today so I'll see wether she's willing. She's sharing the female tank with the other Florida blue girly at the moment but I don't think it'll do any harm moving Sky to the large contico for a while :).

Spazz has been difficult to photograph but here's the last shot I took of the father

In the past 4 days she has gained 20grams :D .... still undecided about our WC gulf coast ribbon ... she has gained weight since she came here (but for her this could definately be proper feeding) and has gained 9grams in the last 5 days. I've been sticking to recording their weights the day before a feed.

guidofatherof5

20 grams in four days!
Greg, It's fishing worms not fishing weights:D

Ok ... so far Sky is still eating like a trooper .... but Panama has been thinking twice about eating for the last two feeds ... very reluctant ... she was tongue flicking .... seemed interested but only took 1 pinky today .... could be a sign ;)

Lol .... I wish I could post a baby message ... she's driving me crazy ... she hasn't eaten other than a small meal (1 pinkie and two bits of Salmon) for just over a month now and she shed 2weeks prior to that. Her weight is still steady at 260g.She is definately heavy towards the back end and feels solid.
I've been surprised by her fast - most cases I read about they deliver 2-3weeks after going off food ... I can imagine that these will be big babies ... I did read in my Jon Coote garter manual that they can go off food in their second month, in which case I just may have been a little premature in posting .... but I'm allowed to :) it is my first time after all :D

Had some strange behaviour yesterday, she ate 1fluff and 5 slithers of salmon. She started to twitch, headed to the waterbowl and submerged herself for 5 minutes (constantly moving in circles). On leaving the waterbowl she lifted her tail and gaped her cloaca and pushed four or five times with no result (she did this twice in the space of 3 minutes). There was intermittent twitching for about 7 minutes after that.
She then returned to normal and has been in hiding ever since.
:D .... I think we're getting closer to a result :D

I meant a more of a short term project
Sky won't take another couple of years - just another shed cycle

She weighed in at 288g today ... another 10g in the last 2 weeks. Still waiting ... still not used to waiting  ... so 38g in total gained since the start of this thread.

She ate again a few days ago :o don't think this is going to happen anymore ... she could just be restless with the fact she's living in a box ... I'm thinking of putting her back into general population ... she's been seperated for three months .... should she go back

Your call buddy. If you think she's past any birthing date then it's probably okay. If not, she seems to be doing fine by herself.

You are the one I'm concerned about now.:D

As for interests, I'm not saying the human female was interested either. Just a means to an end.:D
