Hi, i am new to the site and I live in oklahoma and we have really big abundant garder snakes. How can I tell the sex of them? thanks and glad to be here

Welcome aboard.

You can sex them by adult size and the shape of the tail. If it's a female, the tail should taper off relatively abruptly at the cloaca. On a male it's more gradual and there might even be a bit of a bulge behind the cloaca.

He's one lucky boy ... boys tend to have that slight tall tale gap around the cloaca where the body narrows and then thickens again towards the hemipenes.

I much less often notice a bulge after the vent in males, than I see a distinct bulge in front of the vent in females, and I find that a much more reliable characteristic to look for
