I recommend the Panasonic FZ series (current models: FZ18, FZ28, FZ50).

I favor Sony. I have a new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170. It has 5X zoom and is a 10 .1 megapixel. Seem to work very well.

Fuji FinePix..... they do a whole range of prices to suit. The bridge cameras are very good.

I'd like to throw in a vote for the canon power shot sd1100. Not really anything in the way of manual adjustments, but it has a few macro modes, and it's small.

Most of my pictures are taken with the older Panasonic FZ5, but aSnakeLovinBabe uses the FZ18. I think you will be more impressed by her photos than mine. :)

Canon Digital Rebel EOS XTS works for me
What's the alternative model name for it?

??? EOS Rebel is what the unit has written on it.
I find I cant stand still enough for some shots, but there is a built in sort of stablizer. read the specs and you will understand.

They sell the same models under different names. In the US, they sell it as Digital Rebel, in Japan as Kiss Digital and in Europe it goes under something else, for example EOS 300D (higher number for later models).
Judging by your description, I think we're using the same camera.

FZ 28 cost 450$/can +bag+4 gi memory card and also buy a longer garantie 3 years with more advantages.
I pay 150$ over the price I first expected!
I recharge the battery all night ,tomorrow will see.I need to read the instruction,the thing i hate the most!

Stefan try this link;
Canon EOS Rebel XS (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=17316)
I am not by any means a professional but this camera makes me one. So simple to use I got it in black.
I have a small Sony Cyber-shot and it just wasn’t working. I really wanted a good pics of my garters and then this Rebel XS was suggested and now I thing I’m a pro :cool:
I got it with the EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS lens then bought a 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro and now I’m learning to get fantastic shot from just 6 feet out ;)
