This litttle radix apparently smelled like a pinky. One of her sisters who was shedding and couldn't see very well, clamped down on her head.
While she was eating a pinky of her on, I noticed a spot of blood on the top of her head. It stopped bleeding after a few moments. Never saw this comming. Treated with a little neosporin and will watch it for the next week.

Really scarey when that happens isn't it, Steve. Great looking girl, I love her color.

The only enhancements I do to my photos is with shadowing. I never touch the colors.(other than my "Wearing green" thread from the other day) It's also been cropped. She is a beauty. She'll be coming to NY this summer along with many of her sieblings. Hoping to not bring any back home. Also, hoping none of them leave. Have become very attached to every one. They all have their own little ways about them. Hope everyone who gets one, enjoys these great little radixes. I sure have.:)

So is that a "yes" or a "no"? ;) The colours depend on the lighting and sometimes the pictures do lie. I often edit the colours in my photos (the ones I take indoors) so that they correspond with what I saw when I took the photos.

I guess by definition I did enhance the color. The answer is "YES":D

I would say that the original color of this snakes dorsal is not as bright as the photo but is as deep and rich as represented.

The blood is still red:D

Ditto :)

cameras are much more sensitive to lighting than our eyes are, and they can take some really off-pictures at times! many times in bright lighting a camera will wash color out, boy do I hate that!

I've seen similar injuries many times. A big drop of blood wells up and can appear quite alarming, but when it wipes off there is no visible wound and no long term harm. Garters fight over their food... fact of life!:D

Great! I've been trying to teach them the social graces. Give them a little refinement and now I find out it's all for naught.:(

I remember panicking one time because I found a blood streak smeared across the glass after a feeding. I checked both parties, and couldn't even find where one had been injured. I guess someone tried to eat someone, but I never did find out which one was guilty!

Funny timing. My guys just fought over a food item for the first time. After a brief, although it seemed much longer, struggle all was well. I don't think they actually got their teeth into each other, just the same pinky strip. Lots of thrashing and rolling by the snakes and a bit of panic on my part, but no visible injuries. One was rather timid about approaching the food dish after that, but eventually did finish his meal. Guess it's time to go back to individual feeding.

Being in law enforcement I've seen it all and have had to do it all. Not much will gross me out but when they tear a pinky in half and the the guts are everywhere. Like all over my hands. I don't like that. These guys are quick as lightning. Just when you think there isn't going to be trouble, you get a fight.

I'm feeding my guys seperated right now... the two eating in their respective enclosures are done, water bowls scrubbed, poop picked up, glass clean...... the other two are NOT happy campers and haven't touched their food yet

They might be mad and are trying to teach you a lesson.
That won't last long.
The brain in their stomach will take over and they'll start eating again.:D

I always feed mine together. I just hang over them and watch like a hawk, so I can referee if necessary! The two boys are pretty sneaky with each other's food............:p

I've done this in the past, too, and may continue with the juvie boys. They had a bit of a tussle last week, but I was right there and other than some panic on my part all seems ok. Ella on the other hand eats every single thing I put into the tank. Last week she had 7 fuzzies, Sly maybe got 1... maybe. She finally did end up eating for me today in a seperate tank and Sly was able to take his time and enjoy his meal in peace :) Frick did not eat for me today, but they're still being fed at least twice a week, sometimes more, so I'll just switch him and Frack next time and see how it goes.
