This family got a little time together last night. While working in the adult female enclosure I place Spot in with her babies that were born a year ago. All the babies came over to her to smell the new arrival. She settled in with them in the hide and spent the night. I got up this morning to fine a complete beautiful shed from Spot. Sorry it isn't a better photo. The heat lamp confused the color processer.
Many of these are making the July trip.

Excellent shot Steve!

It is amazing how a lot of people claim that snakes would prefer to be solitary animals except at breeding time or in hibernaculum. I think people on this site have been proving that wrong for a long time now.

Awe! look at her under all her babies!!! thats so cute!

garter snakes and a few select others don't mind company, but most snakes should be solitary. Garters are one of the very few snakes I would keep, and actually recommend keeping in groups!!!

You are right, but there are those keepers that keep all of their adult snakes in groups, Bob Applegate I believe being one of them (correct me if I am wrong). According to Applegate he has never had problems doing so either.

That said, I would say it is better to be safe than sorry with species other than Garters. You even have to watch out for T. e. vagrans.

I have never had a problem housing multiple radixes together. Of course, feeding time is a different story.
Then all the rules go out the enclosure door.
Every snake for its self. They don't have a sharing bone in their little bodies.
