While feeding a few breakfast this morning there was a misunderstanding. My little scrubs thought I was giving them the bird.
They didn't appreciate it very much and let me know it.

They really are very aggressive eaters. It only takes a few moments for them to realize it's not what they expected and they release.

Being home with 5 sick kids does have its advantages. A little extra radix time.

I've seen Tremors too many times to take this very lightly!

Now, Steve... even with extensive training I really don't think they're going to make great attack animals :) I can just see you in your cruiser with a radix basking in the back window :)

Thick old skin. Little tiny teeth. It's more like their teeth get snagged on the skin, rather than penetrate

Adults are a different story. They plant them in hard. Have to peel them off or their teeth can be broken. Don't get biten very often by the adults. Usually, only by one who's in a big hurry to eat. Most of the time the adults take everything very nicely. My kids help feed the adults and don't have too much trouble.

I think you're right. But imagine 200 full grown ones.

I would tell the suspect "Don't run or I'll release my radixes" Not sure my Sheriff is ready for such a unique idea.

LOL... would be fun to watch, though! First the suspect gets that "huh? what? radishes?" look and then the lightbulb moment as snakes flood from the car. LOL

Salmon was their breakfast. Salmon juice on the fingers is all it takes to get them going. While I was feeding this group in the nursery, the other groups smelled it and all came out expecting theirs. They have a great sense of smell and don't miss much.

Steve,
I have tried and tried... However, none of my garter's will eat any of the Salmon I have given them.... What's your secret?
(Hope your kids are all feeling better soon!)
Regards,
Jack

I don't think I have a secret. They just like it.
I have found a few that won't eat it but soon change there mind when it gets fed a second time and their hungrier.
Even with that being said, I do have a couple out of my groups who absolutely refuse eat it and I have to offer them something else.
$5 a pound and they won't eat it.
My dinner, I give it to them and they won't eat it.
Spoiled rotten little scrubs.:mad::D

My kids are feeling much better. Been serving up the pink stuff out of a 5 gal. bucket. Everyone tested positive for Strep, me included. They all go back to school today and I get back to work. Thanks for asking.

Jack, I didn't try very hard, but my guys weren't interested either. I offered both pairs fresh salmon and had no takers. I then used it to make the jello mix and one of the 08 babies will take it, but strongly prefers mice. I don't even try to offer it to the adults anymore. With the babies I put mice and salmon jello on a dish and they move around the dish eating pinkies and ignoring the salmon. Oh-well. Soon I'll have guppies coming out of my ears so they can have their fish live :)
