ok so yesterday i went to The Vivarium (obviously an exotics/reptile pet shop)

anyways i bought 2 pinkies to try and get george and checkers to eat and i also looked around the shop and spotted my next snake i want but back to the story at hand

so today i goto feed the pinkies to george and checkers and surprisingly they didnt want them but i also bought them because they are a little more solid to try and force feed them (remember these snakes havent eaten since about a month before brumation and they have been out since the last week of december anyways george force feeding wasnt a problem one i got it in there to get her to start chewing that ws it and it was gone however checkers is a real bugger kept pushing it out but i finally got her to take the other pinky too so now i know they at least have some form of nutrition.

and back to the next snake i want the shop had some juvi leucistic texas rat snakes they were about 28-30" i think and the guy there told me he has been working with them everyday to make sure they are tame and they were i held one and it was like i was holding george no bites or other hostility anyways they were so beautiful i must have one im gonna buy 1 with my tax return

That's OK, I have a little eastern who is only taking one small feeder guppy every couple days.

SOMETHING is better than nothing.

Glad to hear you were able to get someting into your Garters, Kevin:). I had one of my large female Easterns being really stuborn and not eating after burmation. I put some guppies in her water with 3 fuzzies last week. The guppies were too small to have been of benifit to her, but they did trigger the feeding response and she downed all three of her mice. You may want to give someting like that a try.

aaaa i'll bet they won't eat till they shed..... raise the humidity and temp.... maybe add a second heat lamp at a different angle..... they think they're still in brumation..... meadow does it to me all the time..... the temp & humidity changes after they came out didn't change enough so you'll have to chand=ge them even more.......:D they'll eat you'll just have to work at it lol

Hmmm....I wonder if that is Azule's problem, he kind of acts like he did in the fridge - moving really slow. Although, the temp difference should have been big enough, I'll try raising the humidity....

You'll have to show us pics if you get the rat snake kevin. I've been wanting one of those too. It might just be my next snake as well.

yeah.... meadow does that to me all the time and sooty did it to me this year too..... i started misting the cage daily (which i usually don't do) and i added a second heat lamp..... she started eating within 3 days:)

well the thing is they both sit under the lamp its tends to get up to 82 in there on good days and i mist one or twice a day howver ive been examinging george the past few days and i noticed just on the edges of her belly are turning a little blueish and today looking a lot more dull and her eyes atarting to get blurry and the scale plates on her head seperating indidcating that she is going into shed finally i cant wait

and as for the rat snake well i almost have enough money for it but i will need to get a new screen top for my 10 gallon (snake is still young) the mice got on top of the tank by climbing the water bottle and chewed up the nylon screen but depending on how much my tax return is i will problably be able to buy a 20 gallon(hopefully long) and a screen top for that as well

if you want an idea of what the rat snake looks like just google image leucistic texas rat snake

i just fell in love with this snake when i held him amazingly calm for being so young

Don't fall for it Kevin. It's a ploy to get you to buy her. Then she'll turn Evil Rat Snake on you. Trust me on this one. Mine appears to live in a tank, but I suspect she already has tunnels and an underground bunker where she plots and schemes and draws schematics on how to kill me. LOL
