and for anyone who's been keeping up on snakems condition since the cat attack, lol, in the first picture.... the greyish marks on her were at one point the split/lifted scales where she was bit. They look great since she's shed! :)

When I saw the photos I thought female and from the overall size and girth I still think it's a female. I'm basing my assumptions on my dealings with Radix. Looks too overall large to be a male and I don't see any enlargement south of the vent like I do on the males I deal with.

hardly any of my males are enlarged past their vents
perhaps I just have males with small organs?
I've not really had time to sit down and stare at the photos, which is why I didn't post
I tend to agree with Kevin though
however - I have also decided to take two of my garters to Sean to have probed, because my marcianus male is what I think of as large for a male, and
the infernalis that's going to Shannon seems smallish, although I don't have any females that age to compare her to - details later
but all of my females have a distinct sudden narrowing at the vent, and I don't see that in this photo

I could be way off, but it seems to me that in males I usually see at least two sets of divided ventral scales the same width as the last undivided scale above the cloaca. This snake seems to taper uniformly from the cloaca on? I need lots more practice at this! Keep throwing out thoughts & opinions guys!

it could be a male with a small package to put it politly lol every snake is different but i dont think that it tapers enough from the cloaca to be a female so thats why i think a measurement of her body length would determine this :D

she is a little short of two feet.... I only measured her when I first found her and havent since and I forget EXACTLY the inches lol and i suppose she could have grown?
or he? haha who knows! .... I will measure her again though. Im curious now! ... this gives me a whole new perspective on her! LOL:eek:
